Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib |
Organizing a free spine health check-up camp at Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib was a significant milestone, as securing permission to conduct such an event at this revered site is a rare and prestigious achievement. The camp was successfully held in collaboration with the Spine Wellness and Care Foundation and Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, marking an important step in promoting health awareness within the community. The event recorded an impressive footfall of 994 individuals, including devotees from as far as Mumbai, Patna, Karnataka, Lucknow, Punjab and Haryana who travelled long distances to seek blessings from the almighty and medical consultation. The presence of Giani Ranjit Singh, Head Granthi of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, added immense significance as he started the camp with Ardour, invoking blessings for the health and well-being of all attendees. The camp aimed to raise awareness about spinal health issues, given that back pain is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Various common spinal problems were addressed, including back and neck pain, disc prolapse, sciatica, lumbar canal stenosis, cervical myelopathy, spinal deformity, osteoporosis, and spinal infections or tumors. Attendees received free health check-ups, including blood sugar tests and blood pressure measurement, as part of the "SEWA" initiative. A dedicated team led by Dr. H S Chhabra including doctors, along with rehabilitation specialists such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, provided expert consultations. Notably, 38 individuals sought psychological consultations, which is a remarkable number considering the general lack of awareness about mental health within the community. This underscores the growing recognition of the importance of psychological well-being alongside physical health. Attendees were guided on effective treatments, preventive measures, and rehabilitation strategies to manage spinal disorders. Additionally, mental wellness counselling, exercises and meditation sessions, and nutritional guidance were offered by experts to promote holistic health. |

Gurdwara Sri Nanak Piao Sahib |
Our camp on 16th March at Gurdwara Sri Nanak Piao Sahib went well. Though our footfall (105 patients) was not as much as in Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib, we had anticipated that, expecting around 100 patients. Many of these patients had serious Spinal problems. Some had come from as far as Gurugram and Chitaranjan Park. We were able to make a proper diagnosis for one of the patients based in UK who has been on treatment for last 6 months there without a proper diagnosis or relief. The Vice President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and President of Gurdwara Sri Nanak Piao Sahib graced the occasion. |
